Esteban Emanuel Nieto obtained his Associate of Science degree in Biology with a specialization in zoology (B.Sc. + M.Sc. equivalent) as well as his PhD from the National University of La Plata, Argentina. During his PhD, he used a multi-omic approach to study the interactions occurring among the members of a consortium during the pollutant degradation and the interactions between the consortium and the native soil microbial community in bioremediation processes. Currently, his work is focused on the impact of top-down regulation by protists in bacterial population dynamics and functioning during nitrification. He has authored 4 papers in peer-reviewed journals
