Work Plan Organization
The working plan of the project is organized into five work packages (WPs)
WP1: Project Management and Coordination
The main aim of WP1 is to ensure the efficient management and coordination of ACTIONr activities.
WP2: Training and Technology Transfer
The main objective of WP2 is to strengthen the research and innovation capacities of UTH in the field of Ecophysiology, Ecogenomics, and Microbial Ecology of the N cycle leading to scientific excellence.
WP3: Research excellence and innovation: Exploring the interaction of NIs with the N cycle and its microbial components
The main objective of WP3 is to elucidate the complex interaction of NIs with the N cycle and its microbial components, considering both fundamental biology and recent technological advances.
This will be achieved via a series of specific objectives as follows:
(a) to define the mode of action of NIs at cellular level
(b) to develop and use synthetic microbial communities of nitrifiers as an ecologically relevant tool for NI activity screening
(c) to develop experimental tools to assess the activity and effects of NIs on ammonia oxidizing microorganisms (AOM) and off target microorganisms participating or not in N cycling and to address the reciprocal effects on GHG emissions
(d) to compile all experimental evidence towards the development and validation of novel, safer and more efficient NIs
WP4: Networking and sustainability
The main objective of WP4 is to enhance the networking capacity of UTH through the creation of strong academic and industrial networks in soil Microbial Ecology, Ecophysiology and Ecogenomics in N cycling.
WP5: Dissemination, exploitation, & communication
The main objective of WP5 is to ensure the optimum dissemination, exploitation, and communication of the project findings to the scientific community, relevant stakeholders, regulators, and the society in large.
