🌟 Featuring Christopher Lawson
Dr. Christopher Lawson is an Assistant Professor at Department of Chemical Engineering and Applied Chemistry, at University of Toronto, leading the Microbiome Engineering Lab and BioZone — Centre for Applied Bioscience and Bioengineering. He holds a B.A.Sc. and M.A.Sc. from UBC, a Ph.D. from Wisconsin, and completed his postdoctoral research at Berkeley Lab. Dr. Lawson’s research focuses on microbiome engineering, systems biology, and synthetic biology, with an emphasis on developing novel anaerobic biotechnologies for resource recovery from waste streams. His work integrates high-throughput methods, machine learning, and metabolic modeling to advance wastewater treatment and solid waste management. Dr. Lawson has received numerous awards, including the ISME/IWA BioCluster Rising Star Award and the Jacobs Engineering Group/AEESP Outstanding Doctoral Dissertation Award. He is a member of several professional societies, including ISME, ASM, IWA, and AEESP.
