🌟 Featuring Roey Angel
Dr. Roey Angel is a Research Scientist and Head of the Laboratory for Anaerobic and Molecular Microbiology at the Institute of Soil Biology and Biogeochemistry, Biology Centre CAS, Czech Republic. As a microbial ecologist, Dr. Angel investigates how terrestrial microbial communities at the microscale regulate nutrient cycling on larger landscape scales. His research focuses on anaerobic processes in soil aggregates, biological soil crusts, and arthropod guts. Utilizing stable isotope labeling, tracing techniques, classical microbiology, and modern omics approaches, his lab identifies key organisms and interactions that influence ecosystem functioning. A significant aspect of his work addresses societally relevant processes, such as greenhouse gas turnover and ecosystem responses to climate change-induced stress.
